Purdue’s top five highest paid men made almost four times as much as its top five highest paid women in 2024. Their combined salaries totaled about $2.84 million, while the top five men were paid a total of about $10.92 million.
Women’s basketball head coach Katie Gearlds was the university’s highest paid female employee in 2024. She made about $706,000, less than a fifth of men’s basketball head coach Matt Painter’s salary, according to university salary data.
Lin Nan, department head of management and Brock family chair professor, made the second most of all women at Purdue last year. Her salary was about $630,000, making her the highest paid employee in her department.
Mara Faccio, a finance professor and Tom and Patty Hefner chair in finance, was third highest, making about $565,000. Her research has over 30,000 citations, according to Google Scholar.
Ellen Ernst Kossek, the Basil S. Turner distinguished professor in the Daniels School of Business, was the fourth highest paid woman at Purdue, with a 2024 salary of about $483,000.
Karen Plaut, executive vice president for research, was Purdue’s fifth highest paid female employee. She made about $460,000 and was the 42nd highest paid employee over all.
